Manning Youth Theatre

MYT is a free Youth Theatre group, held on Saturday mornings in term time only. It is open to all children and young people between the ages of 9 and 18. We accept applications from all members of the community.

At present, we are only able to take on 30 members but will keep all applications on record to operate a 'waiting list' system.

Our Vision

Our vision for Manning Youth Theatre is to give young people access to opportunities in the Arts, which provide an invaluable sense of achievement and success. To include all and celebrate life.

Through experiences in Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre, genuine talent can be unleashed and shared. MYT workshops cover these three disciplines, each term with a different focus:

1. Demonstration of Skills
2. Building up a Repertoire of Techniques
3. Final Performance for an Audience.

MYT is open to the wider community, encompassing all ethnic backgrounds, genders and disabilities. We are committed to providing opportunities for all young people, regardless of financial circumstances and any other barriers. All activities and experiences offered by MYT are free of charge.

Members should be between the ages of 9 and 16, with a genuine interest in the Arts and be able to demonstrate commitment to learning and dedication when being involved.

Benefits of participation in the Arts include improvements in self-esteem and attitudes towards others. Progress can be made in development of skills, knowledge and understanding. MYT aim to provide personal, social and educational skills that will benefit young people in their future.

Young people can belong to a group and therefore have belief in what they can achieve a passion in what they do and be able to make a positive transition into adulthood.

We believe that MYT will be a place between home and school where freedom of expression can be explored and a spirit of playfulness is created whilst enhancing core values.
